Website Introductions; Writers Instruction and Help

By Wilbur Corncob at 11/17/07 09:00

The work screen you will use is: Work Screen

Below is our detailed instructions (I hope they make sense). We're looking to find a couple writers to use regularly on this project. If you have happened across this randomly or by some web search looking for writing projects, feel free to complete a couple of these and then email us (with the same email address) and we can discuss whether we'll hire you to work on this regularly.

You do need to Register which is simply entering your email address and name to recieve your password. You won't be sent any other emails. You'll need your password to login at the work screen.

The key here is to write a short, interesting tibit of around 70 words that would interest someone in the website, with any personal observations you might have. This should be written from the first person prespective and should be more "fun" than "formal". You can add a few html codes like Bold or Lists for effect.

These are two examples to give you an idea of what we're looking for:

You cannot cut and paste from the website. Anything more than a very short selection will cause your entry to be rejected.

The only system requirements are that your computer display be 1280 x 960 (if it is not 1280 wide you will have trouble with the entry screen). You must also fluent in written English.

The web pages you will be writing about have been editorially selected and are on a variety of topics. They should all be of quality and not offensive. Some are a little bit technical, though most are on easy topics like travel, art, real estate.

Feel free to login on the Work Screen and click "SKIP" several times to view some of the web pages.

When you begin you will start on the work screen which is split in half. The website you are "reviewing" will be on the left and you will be able to scroll through the site. Normally the "review" will be written without clicking the sites links. Depending on your browser, photos may or may not appear.

On the right is your work screen (this screen doesn't scroll). It is laid out as follows:

Site title/topic

Link to open site under review in new window

Title: [You make a title for your "review". This must be different from the site's title]

Text entry: [This is where you type your "review". It can include html, and a double blank line seperates paragraphs.]

Word count: [This shows a simplistic word count of your entry]

PLACE: [On some of the sites this will show a pull down menu with a U.S. State or Country selected. If this correctly relates to the site shown it is ok, otherwise it needs to be properly selected.]

Site link, anchor text. [This shows the link that will be generated for the site being "reviewed". You cannot edit this, and it is included at the bottom of your text automatically.]

Cat 1-4: [This is where you would enter categories for the site. Cat1 being the primary topic of the site. You would not repeat the PLACE if the pull down menu is present, or the main topic of the site as shown at the very top (title/topic).] NOTE: if thinking of categories is too complicated, just put an X for the first two.

POST: [Once the information is completed you press POST and are taken to the next site to review. There is no preview of your entry. If you don't include the necessary information or cut and paste from the site you will need to correct your entry, however: NOTE, if you cut and paste from the site or fail to enter a title, and 2 categories, you will receive an error message and most likely be presented with a different site when you hit back on your brower.

SKIP: [This is a link that will take you to the next site without your making an entry. If a site is too technical or doesn't "click" with you use this.]

Payment. If you arrived here and just start writing introductions you will not be paid. If you are interested in writing these for pay, please complete several and then email us so we can review your work and discuss pay. We normally pay via paypal but realize that people from some countries may need to receive payment via Western Union.

Please contact: wilbur at wilburcorncob dot com.

If you are looking to promote your website, we have numerous options for you to engage in: Self Promotion. This project only reviews sites that we have been editorially selected. You cannot submit a site to us for review here.
