Please give us a short summary of your Please give us a short summary of your website?website?
It's more or less just a list of my past projects and employment.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I'm a web developer and it's kinda stupid not not have my own website. Problem is I didn't know what to put, so I just did a resume.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Long, long ago. Back in 1996, it was the website for the Philippine Stock Exchange. I had just learned HTML and helped to put it together. It was a pretty high profile site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It's my name. Somebody beat me to RamonGarcia.com, so I got GarciaRamon.com
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Nothin much... it's just another resume, but mine is impressive.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I'll keep it for good, I get a lot of gigs through that site.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I barely invest any time into the site. Just a minor change now and again. I host for free on a friend's machine and domain names are cheap. I think it's a good and worthwhile exhcange.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I wouldn't change it at all, I like it just the way it is. Maybe I'll toss in a blog, but I'm not really hot about that and it's free anyway.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Heh, I don't think it's going to get big anytime soon.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I got caught up in TWO domain name scams. The first was iRegistrations and the second RegisterFly. Luckily I was able to salvage the domain name from those and now use Network Solutions as my registrar.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Keeping up with the clients... there's so many clients, so little time.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I just coded it well, left it alone and it did all the work itself.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't. It just sits there, pretty much what I meant for it to do.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Four years now, I think. I'll keep it indefinitely.
