Virginia Web Design Companies VISIONEFX

Your name?

Rick Vidallon

Your Location (city, etc)

Virginia Beach

When did you start your website and why?

The unique difference between my comany Visionefx and other Virginia Web design firms is my extensive background in animation, graphic design and agency advertising.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We specialize in building powerful Web site that brand our clients businesses by creating a custom website from start to finish. We provide; • Web design & development • Web re-design • Image branding, graphic design and conceptual services • Splash page and modular Flash animation • Ecommerce web site design and development • Search engine optimization • Search engine marketing • Electronic brochures, HTML EMail and online newsletters • Custom database development • Programming and languages: SQL, .NET, Javascript, XML and advanced Actionscript

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Finding the time to do exactly what I am doing now, 'finding time to market my own company online through high-visbility directories'.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Building a design concept or idea that captures and visually commuicates my clients' business online.

What was your biggest mistake?

Learning not to say 'No'. Sadly enough some clients take advantage of freebies or favors. So it is best to deliver or execute the contract as it is written. If the client wants additional work -- it is always best to bill or document this.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do. No one can care for your business, except you!

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

As a business owner, the website we develop are (our) clients. I would say 33% are repeat clients, 33% are referrals and 33% are new.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

It will increase 10 fold in thenext few years. The (paper yellow pages) is destined to go the way of the buggy whip.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is like a credit score. It's fuzzy math. But one thing is for sure, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Google giveth and Google taketh away.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They are a great resource for attracting new business. You secret is where to cast your net. Don't try to catch every fish in the sea. Target marketing and niche search markets are the way to go.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Say what you do and do what you say. it's really that simple.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

I can't say that there has not been any endeavors that have been the least successful. I would say that some marketing has worked better than others. But collectively it all amounts to my end goal -- more exposure.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

A definitive answer as to when 800x600 resolution will go away!

Is HTML Validation really necessary as it relates to web site display and search engine optimization?

W3C validation is not the web developer’s Holy Grail. Validation does not guarantee a site will look the same from platform to platform, from browser to browser. Validation does not assure that markup is efficiently written or adheres to a given entity’s assessment of best practices. What it means is that the developer has coded a functional document and used no markup in addition to that specified by the guidelines.

Wearing suspenders in addition to a belt isn’t illegal, it’s just … extra.

No harm in that, is there?

What is your website address?
