Ever heard of Trackback Spider? It is a Blackhat (yes, it is Blackhat) software that sends trackback notifications to give you one-way links.
Very fortunately, this kind of software does not make much difference anymore, as mentioned by Andy Beard, whose blog is linked to this page. How? Well, you'll have to visit his site to find out.
Actually, I would disagree. I would that that maybe 10% of the sites broadcasting a trackback url will actual list a site that is relevant, links to them and pings them.
On the other hand, you will find some blogs that have hundreds of trackback links to obvious spam sites that don't link to the blog or its posts.
Someone needs to "get real".
Thinking about making a comment on this blog post? Great! But please remember that this space is for just that, comments about this blog post. It is not a place to post random thoughts about other stuff. We found that most of the "comments" posted here are not comments at all and should have really been posted in our forum. So:
If you are just planning to spam... go away as all the comments are premoderated
