Mary Chrony; Purchasing text link ads revisitedBy Wilbur Corncob at 12/13/07 07:49
Mary Chorny is back! Apparently not understanding my blog post about her requests to buy text link advertising, today I receive an another offer from her...Her first email:
HiI am interested in purchasing textlink advertising on your website: Expats Blog Directory I am interested in placing paragraphs on specific pages. An example of this can been seen in the middle of the content area of this page: http://lifecruiser.com/archive/ how-do-you-celebrate-halloween/ another example: http://www.mydisneyblog.com/my_weblog/ 2007/10/disney-dreams-c.html (below the blog post and above the comments) The paragraph will be custom written to match the content of the site and you will have the right to edit anything. The textlinks will go to non spammy and related websites. However, since these links are on specific pages. I would be paying only one time fees and the paragraphs will stay permanent i-e as long as the page stays however, I would be purchasing many of these and it would be a good amount. Let me know if interested and we can discuss further details. I can make a good offer to make it worth your time. Let me know! Thanks Mary Chorney www.analogwire.com "Edit anything??" How about the URL's? Anyway, I wrote back, "Ok, make an offer." Here's my proposal for your website:I am offering $20 (per page) for these pages: pg=4 tags travel tags italy tags uruguay cost of living tags urguay TOTAL= $100 Let me know if you agree so that I can send you the related paragraphs for placement. PS: If this works well I would be doing it on regular basis. Thanks! Mary Chorney www.analogwire.com And here is my snappy reply... Intelligent test! You failed! You don't remember me!Now, with the exception of the first url you listed, you can get a parapraph on each of those url's, 100% free... just by following the simple instructions on that site (rather than sending out spam). Of course your sites would have to actually be blogs and relevant to those topics. So, why do you want to send me money for something you can do yourself, completely FREE? cc: my blog, [404 Check: was link to mailto:admin@testmatrix. net, anchor: Shahzad Shahnawaz] News Digest Blog Tags: • textlink ads • spam • bad idea • selling links • - Permalink Trackbacks Trackback specific URI for this entry No trackbacks. I'm glad I found this post. I just received the exact same email from Mary today. Thinking it was too good to be true, I Googled "analogwire" (a company I have never heard of) and found a link to this post. And to think I was just about to send my reply to her. Thanks for the help! Comment #2 Lori at 01/14/08 07:52
Just received a similar email from Mary Chorney today! My offer to her: write an article for another site of mine and get a free text link (maybe - she didn't tell me her url so I asked that question also)... We'll see how she responds! Thanks for the post... Comment #3 By Wilbur Corncob at 01/14/08 08:49
Yeah... they seem offended at the idea of writing a blog post and getting a free link!A link that would probably be of much greater quality! Today I receive two more smiliar emails. I asked both for specific proposals. One I requested to include the url's I'd be linking too. They both claim to make it "worth my while". That is obviously bs as someone would have no idea what would be worth my while. Comment #4 Mary at 02/16/08 01:03
Hi Wilbur,Sorry you got the wrong impression that I send spam emails. It was my assistant handling the account who native language is not english and he made an honest mistake. I have been doing this business for the last couple of years. I am listing few sites that have made business deals with me. Please feel free to ask them if they got a fair deal from me or not. www.freehostsfinder.com www.andreas-kraus.net www.easywebbers.com www.tutorial-pedia.com free-holiday-ideas.com Let me know If you want something similar. Looking forward for your reply. Thanks Mary Chorney Comment #5 Mary Chorney at 02/22/08 04:55
What happened Wilbur? Did you not like my reply or you just allow comments that are agreeable to you? Comment #6 By Wilbur Corncob at 02/25/08 04:28
It is not a fair deal and I don't believe you are the same person who emailed me. Comment #7 Mary at 02/25/08 04:48
Yes I am not the same person who emailed you. That was my assistant. If it does not offend you can you please elaborate how is it not a fair deal? I have made such deals with hundreds of webmasters that thought otherwise. Comment #8 By Wilbur Corncob at 02/25/08 05:34
Ok, let's compare your offer and say something that offer an EPM (earning per 1,000 impressions) of $5.00.Your offer. After 1 year: $100, after 2 years: $100, after 3 years: $100. Never more. If the site got 100 impressions a day, that would be 36,500 per year or $182.50 earnings in a year, $365 after 2, and $547.50 after 3 years. $447.50 more than your offer. If the page could garner $10 EPM it would earn over $1,000 in the first 3 years vs your $100. And for sites that get 1,000, 10,000 or 100,000 impressions a day your offer becomes more like spitting in the ocean. The bottom line being that the one time payment for your links benefits you and not the site owner for the site owners success. ie: the better the site does the worse the site owner does in the deal. Thats what premium real estate links offer. I dont bid for those. I am going for internal and specific pages. Internal pages are increasing all the time. Most advertisers dont go for bottom of the page. I am. Because I am not interest in impressions. I am interested in back links. Considering bottom of most webpages dont make any money, my deal is pretty good. Thats why hundreds of webmasters agreed with me. They knew what they were doing. Instead of wasting all the bottom space of all the internal pages they chose to make some money from 5 or 6 pages. It does not hurt them because I did not occupy their money making real estate. I can offer you $15 to $20 per page depending on the PR of the page. With 10 of your internal pages you can be making upto $200 from space that is already sitting there making no money.
