It's the back-to-school season again. As the country leader, President Barack Obama led the welcoming of the students with his back-to-school speech. But it seems like Mr. Obama made another headline aside from his speech.
In his prepared school remarks, Obama mentioned Microsoft's gaming pride, the Xbox. However, it was not said to promote it. It's actually the opposite.
"I’ve talked about your parents’ responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don’t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox."
That's just an 'Ouch!' for Microsoft. But at least you get the idea that it's the Xbox that Obama knows, not the Nintendo Wii or the Sony Playstation. I actually think Obama himself plays the Xbox during office breaks. Don't be so sad Microsoft.
If there are companies that will be rejoicing because they were part of Obama's remarks, it would be Apple, Google, Twitter and Facebook.
"Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor – maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine."
and
"Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other."
In fairness, Obama is just showing concern over the students who are possibly America's future innovators. Don't weep MS, you can still score in the next school year.
