I found this forum posting about the Value of a Front Page Link to be a bit absurd.

The post questions whether 10 euros a month would be a good price for a front page link and doesn't supply any information such as the domain or traffic details.

10 euros of course could be a bargain or a complete waste. The poster doesn't even come close to providing enough information to make a decision!

A front page link might offer some emotional value, but the front page should be the least visited of any website that has a resonable number of page views per visitor. It is also probably the least targeted page of the website.

For these reasons, besides the emotional appeal, I think a front page link gets you the least bang for the buck (or euro as it may be).

I believe the best value comes from an reasonably popular inside page that is most closely related to your site.
