Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our website is the backbone of our business. It is where people come when they are looking for Microsoft software training in the UK, or web design and Internet marketing in the EU and globally
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I finished my PhD in December 2003 and was looking around for something else to occupy me and for another long term goal.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This website was launched in 2004 when I had some time on my hands to start up my first business. At the time it only felt like it was one aspect of the company, but now it is the business
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Choosing the company name and website name was difficult. I just looked around at what a number of companies doing similar things were calling themselves and chose something that seemed to fit in. Were I to do it again I would go about it differently.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
These days, Google pretty much serves us as a table of contents for many of our major keywords so people tendf to find what they want pretty quickly. We also make sure that contact details are highly visible and that we follow this up with fast response times - I've lost count of the times we've won business because a competitor didn't either pick up the phone or respond to an email in a timely manner.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To keep growing this business and to take it to a more international market place
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I invested very little money in the business intially, no loans and no VC capital and of course all the Internet marketing is done inhouse. This has eaten up a lot of time over the years, but the rewards have more than made up for it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
For web design and software devleopment, sure - we have a lot of guys working for us and can assemble project teams to meet just about any level of demand. For software trainers, we have very good recruitment levels. Where SEO is concerned, the really good guys are harder to find or to get your hands on - our waiting list would get a little longer I suppose.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
More targeted web pages - more targetted content. these are the backbone of promoting your website before you even start thinking about link building.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We grow notcieably every week in terms of new business. Even if we just stayed where we are now we'd have something to be proud of, but we envisage growing long into the future.
