Counting Inbound Links... for Fun OR Profit?

Cape Cod SEO has a great post about Evaluating Inbound Link Results in Search Engines. The article explains using the link: option in the search engines to find and count inbound links to your website. The also explain the differents results from different search engines.

I would call this technique the "sheeple method" as it is what everyone else is doing. So many infact that the Cape Cod SEO blog says that MSN search disabled it completly and Google doesn't provide accurate or complete results. What's the point?

Internetcashmonster.com offers an e-library of latest resellable ebooks, softwares, marketing tools, articles, marketing and website scripts, niche titles, audio/video, and website templates with master resell rights and private label rights. We Constantly update and add new products for members with getting started guides and help topics.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Learning HTML and integrating php for web interactivity, all by myself, including designing the website from scratch instead of buying a template

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Checking my email for formail replies

What was your biggest mistake?

using a free webhosting service when I first started out. Turned out to be a lemon, too many restrictions, and I couldn't even upload certain file types like pdf and exe.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do it myself, because its me who designed it

I t hasn't yet, but I've had a few subscibers

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

It'll become very competitive because many people are learning the secrets of SEO and using it. The big players will get bigger and flatten out competition.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is an effective way to bring exposure to your website, with more people getting familiarised with the term everyday on the net, even amateur bloggers use it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was taught in IT institutions. Its very technical and goes beyond just effective advertising.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They have helped, because 5% of my visitors come from google. Yahoo has very obscure way of ranking sites. Some of the very popular marketing keywords rank for websites that are crummy or no longer maintained well.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Submitting To link directories and banner/link exchange programs

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

traffic exchange programs (surf for hits)

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Less spammy fly by night sites, and marketers who don't act for long term good, and are just there to make a quick buck

When did you start your website and why?

Horning Corporation was started in 1994 and serviced the computer needs of about a dozen clients. In 1999 we recognized the challenges our clients had to better manage their customers and target new prospects in a more global economy and the Internet was quickly becoming the preferred communication tool. After developing our web and marketing expertise we began offering our clients professionally designed websites. It soon became apparent they needed more economical methods for updating their content to keep them relevant and up-to-date. We began work on a CMS (Content Management System) called SiteApex to provide them with an easy to use interface. After 3 years in the making SiteApex was released and combined with our graphic designing, marketing expertise, and SEO (search engine optimization) research to launch the Ultimate Website product.
