I cannot count how many times I've encountered websites with horrible designs reminiscent of Web 1.0. MySpace and Friendster comes to mind. The ability of users to customize their own pages created a slew of disgusting websites from a visitor's point of view. Ill-contrasted background and foreground colors, music in the website, and glitters are just among the features I usually see. Year-ender lists for almost anything imaginable are quite common during, well, the end of the year, when the best things to come out about a particular topic are summed up in one comprehensive list. I personally noticed that among the most popular things to be listed in such a way are fashion trends and newsmakers for a year. Very few would ever see a similar Best Of list for the year's top web designs.
